Drive Shafts & Universal Joints - 4WD: Maintenance

Whenever drive shaft is removed from vehicle, clean yoke with solvent. Lubricate inside diameter of seal with hydraulic seal lubricant, and outside diameter of seal with transmission fluid.

When replacing the front and rear drive shaft spider, be sure the grease fitting assembly hole is facing in the direction shown in the illustration. See Fig 1 for 1996-2000 models or Fig 2 for 2001 models.
