Removal (Without Electronic Locking Differential)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Drain differential gear oil. Place reference mark on drive shaft companion flange and companion flange on differential for reassembly reference.
  2. Remove drive shaft companion flange bolts and nuts, and separate drive shaft from differential assembly. See DRIVE SHAFT .
  3. On models equipped with ABS, remove bolt and ABS speed sensor from top of differential carrier. On models not equipped with ABS, remove rear axle shafts. See REAR AXLE SHAFT & BEARING .
  4. On all models, remove differential carrier-to-axle housing nuts and washers. Remove differential carrier and gasket from axle housing.
