Removal (Land Cruiser (1997))

  1. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Remove 6 axle shaft set nuts and plate washers. Using large brass drift and hammer, strike center of axle flange with sufficient force to loosen cone washers. Remove cone washers. Remove axle shaft.
  2. Remove disc brake caliper and suspend aside, DO NOT disconnect brake flex hose. Using Seal Remover (09308-00010), remove oil seal from hub. Install 2 bolts into threaded holes in rotor. Gradually tighten bolts evenly until rotor is loose, Remove rotor.
  3. Remove 2 rear axle bearing lock nut screws and lock nut. Remove lock nut plate and outer bearing. Remove axle hub. Using seal remover, remove inner oil seal. Remove inner bearing. Using brass drift and hammer, remove bearing races.
