Installation (Previa)
- Drive NEW oil seal into axle shaft housing to depth of .138" (3.51 mm) for disc brake models and .236" (5.99 mm) for drum brake models.
- On disc brake models, place NEW retainer gasket and bearing outer retainer on backing plate. Using a socket and hammer, install bolts. Install backing plate to axle shaft.
- On drum brake models, install bearing outer retainer to axle shaft. On all models, press NEW bearing onto axle shaft. Heat inner retainer to 302°F (150°C) in an oil bath. Clean retainer and axle shaft of oil and grease. While still hot, press inner retainer onto axle shaft.
- Using a press, install speed sensor rotor and NEW oil seal (if equipped). Install end gasket. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
