Description & Operation

On Avalon, Camry, Celica and Corolla, major suspension components are strut assemblies connected between rear axle carrier and vehicle body. Wheel bearings are mounted in axle hub, bolted to rear axle carrier. See Fig 1.

Paseo and Tercel models are equipped with a solid axle beam with wheel bearings mounted on the axle shaft. The axle is supported by struts and retained by a lateral control rod. See Fig 2.
