Power Steering Vane Pump: Removal

  1. Remove right hand front fender apron seal. Remove 2 bolts.
  2. CAUTION: Take care not to spill fluid on the drive belt.
  3. Disconnect the return hose. Disconnect the hose from the power steering vane pump.
  4. Disconnect the pressure feed tube. Remove the 2 clamp plate set nuts. Remove the bolt. Remove the 2 clamp plates and 2 holders from the tube. Using the Power Steering Hose Nut 14 x 17 mm Wrench Set (SST 09631-22020), disconnect the tube. See Fig 1.

  5. Remove the drive belt. Loosen the A and B bolts. See Fig 2.

  6. NOTE: Bolt A cannot be removed.
  7. Remove the power steering vane pump assembly with pressure feed tube. Disconnect the connector from the oil pressure switch. Loosen bolt A sufficiently so that bolt B can be removed.
  8. Remove the pressure feed tube. Remove the oil pressure switch from the union bolt. Remove the union bolt and gasket.
