Power Steering Vane Pump: Installation

    NOTE: Make sure the stopper of the tube is touching the front bracket, as shown, then torque the union bolt. See Fig 1.

  1. Tighten the union bolt with a new gasket to 38 ft. lbs. (52 N.m). Install the oil pressure switch to the union bolt, using a torque of 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m).
  2. Install power steering vane pump assembly with pressure feed tube. Temporarily tighten the A and B bolts. See Figure.
  3. NOTE: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 11.81" (300 mm). See Fig 2.

  4. Install drive belt. Adjust drive belt tension. See POWER STEERING PUMP BELT . Using the Torque Wrench Adapter (SST 09249-63010), tighten the A bolt to 21 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). Tighten the B bolt to 32 ft. lbs (43 N.m). Connect the connector to the oil pressure switch.
  5. NOTE: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 11.81" (300 mm). See Fig 3.Torque must be parallel to the special tool during tightening procedure.

  6. Connect the pressure feed tube. Using the Power Steering Hose Nut 14 x 17 mm Wrench Set (SST 09631-22020), connect the tube with a torque of 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m). Install the 2 clamp plates and 2 holders to the tube. Tighten the bolt. Install the 2 clamp plate set nuts with a torque of 69 INCH lbs. (7.8 N.m).
  7. Connect the return hose.
  8. Install the right hand front fender apron seal. Tighten the 2 bolts.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. See BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM  under LUBRICATION.
