Power Steering Vane Pump: Installation
- Tighten the union bolt with a new gasket to 38 ft. lbs. (52 N.m). Install the oil pressure switch to the union bolt, using a torque of 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m).
- Install power steering vane pump assembly with pressure feed tube. Temporarily tighten the A and B bolts. See Figure.
- Install drive belt. Adjust drive belt tension. See POWER STEERING PUMP BELT . Using the Torque Wrench Adapter (SST 09249-63010), tighten the A bolt to 21 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). Tighten the B bolt to 32 ft. lbs (43 N.m). Connect the connector to the oil pressure switch.
- Connect the pressure feed tube. Using the Power Steering Hose Nut 14 x 17 mm Wrench Set (SST 09631-22020), connect the tube with a torque of 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m). Install the 2 clamp plates and 2 holders to the tube. Tighten the bolt. Install the 2 clamp plate set nuts with a torque of 69 INCH lbs. (7.8 N.m).
- Connect the return hose.
- Install the right hand front fender apron seal. Tighten the 2 bolts.
- Bleed the power steering system. See BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM under LUBRICATION.
NOTE:
Make sure the stopper of the tube is touching the front bracket, as shown, then torque the union bolt. See Fig 1.
