Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds. Remove front pillar garnish, front door inside scuff plate, hood lock release lever and cowl side trim. Remove steering wheel, steering column and combination switch.
  2. Remove lower finish panel assembly, instrument panel finish lower left panel and fuse box bolt. Remove No. 2 duct heater-to-register, parking brake release lever, No. 2 undercover and lower No. 2 finish panel.
  3. Remove glove box and glove box door finish plate inside instrument panel box. Pull up and disconnect air bag connector. Remove 4 screws and glove box. Remove glove box door. Remove center cluster finish panel, radio, and heater control assembly.
  4. On floor shift models, remove upper console panel, rear console box, and front console box. On column shift models, remove finish panel assembly and steering column. Remove cluster finish panel, cluster finish panel assembly and combination meter. Disconnect connectors and remove bolts and ground terminals. Remove 2 nuts and 9 bolts and remove instrument panel.
