Possible Causes

DTC 53 could be caused by a short in Yellow/Red (circuit P+) and Yellow/Green (circuit P-) wires in passenger-side air bag squib circuit, passenger-side air bag squib malfunction or air bag sensor assembly malfunction.

NOTE: During testing, if DTCs other than DTC 53 are displayed, disregard them.
