Avalon, Camry & Sienna

  1. Start engine and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Shut engine off.
  2. On Avalon, remove cover and connect scan tool to data link connector No. 3. See Figure-25.
  3. On Camry and Sienna, connect scan tool to data link connector No. 3. See Figure-25.
  4. On all models, scan tool is used to read engine RPM. Apply parking brake. Place transaxle in Neutral. Start engine and maintain engine at 2500 RPM for 90 seconds and then allow engine to idle. Ensure idle speed is 650-750 RPM.
  5. If idle speed is not within specification, check Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, wiring and Engine Control Module (ECM). See IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM in SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article. Shut engine off. Remove scan tool.
