Removal & Disassembly

  1. Remove timing belt, camshaft sprockets and crankshaft sprocket. See TIMING BELT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove No. 3 timing belt cover from front of cylinder heads. See Figure.
  2. Remove generator. Remove crankshaft position sensor, located at front of crankshaft, on front of engine. Remove A/C compressor with hoses attached and secure aside.
    CAUTION: Note oil pump bolt length and location for reassembly reference. Proper length bolts must be installed in specified areas.
  3. Remove A/C compressor mounting bracket from side of cylinder block. Remove No. 1 and 2 oil pans. See OIL PAN  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove bolts, oil pump and "O" ring. Remove oil pump body cover and oil pump components. See Figure.
