Removal (Avalon & Camry V6)

Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Remove fender apron seal. See Fig 1. Remove cotter pin and lock nut cap from end of axle shaft.
Apply brakes and remove axle shaft nut. Release brakes. Drain transaxle fluid. Remove cotter pin and nut from tie rod end. Disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle. Remove nut and separate stabilizer bar link from lower control arm. Remove lower control arm-to-ball joint bolts/nuts. Separate lower control arm from ball joint.
Using a plastic hammer, tap axle shaft from front hub assembly. Push front hub assembly outward and separate axle shaft from hub assembly. Using a hammer and a brass drift, tap axle from transaxle.
To remove left axle shaft, pry axle shaft from transaxle and remove. See Fig 2. To remove right axle shaft, remove axle shaft bearing bolt. Remove snap ring and axle shaft. See Fig 2.
