Disassembly (Avalon & Camry V6)

  1. Remove boot clamps and boot from inboard joint cover. See Figure. Paint reference marks on inboard joint subassembly and axle shaft for reassembly reference. DO NOT use punch to make reference marks.
  2. Remove snap ring from end of axle shaft. Remove inboard joint subassembly from axle shaft.
  3. Remove boots from axle shaft. Remove snap ring from end of transaxle side gear shaft. Using a hammer and screwdriver, pry dust cover from left inboard joint.
  4. Press dust cover from right axle shaft. If removing bearing from right axle shaft, remove snap ring. Press bearing from axle shaft. Remove remaining snap ring from right axle shaft. Using a hammer and screwdriver, pry dust cover from axle.
