ABS & TRAC OFF Light Diagnostics
- Ensure battery voltage is 12 volts. Turn ignition switch to ON position. ABS, TRAC OFF and SLIP indicator lights should illuminate, then go out after 3 seconds. If warning lights do not illuminate, check fuse, bulb, and appropriate wiring harness.
- Using a jumper wire, jumper check connector terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1 or DLC2. See Fig 1. DLC1 is located in passenger side of engine compartment, near firewall and DLC2 is located under left side of instrument cluster. See Figure. If a malfunction is detected, 4 seconds will elapse and ABS or TRAC OFF indicator light will begin to flash a 2-digit Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). First number of blinks will equal first digit in a code. After a 1.5-second pause, second number of blinks will equal second digit in a code.
- If 2 or more codes are stored, there will be a 2.5-second pause between each code. After all codes are flashed, there will be a 4 second pause and all codes will repeat. If ABS and TRAC system are functioning normal, and no DTCs are present, ABS and TRAC OFF indicator lights will blink 2 times per second. For code definitions, see appropriate DTC DEFINITIONS.
