Removal (4Runner)

  1. Close sun roof. Turn ignition off. Remove rear interior light, rear header trim panel, and back door scuff plate. See Figure. Remove rear door scuff plate, rear seat side trim, and deck side trim. Remove front door scuff plate. Remove center pillar lower trim panel. Remove front seat belt shoulder anchor bolt. Remove center pillar upper trim panel.
  2. Remove assist grips, and front pillar trim panel. Remove sun roof switch. Remove rear view mirror, sun visors, and front interior light. Release 5 clips, and remove headliner. Disconnect 4 drain hoses, and connectors from sun roof housing. See Figure. Remove 2 nuts, 8 bolts and housing assembly. Remove sun shade trim. Remove side trim panel. Remove sun roof mounting nuts and glass.
  3. Remove drip channel. Remove control relay, and drive gear assembly. Remove wind deflector. Remove sun roof housing. Remove drive rail. To install, reverse removal procedure.
