Drive Plate RUNOUT Test

Measure drive plate runout. See Figure. If runout exceeds .008" (.20 mm), or if ring gear is damaged, replace drive plate. If installing a new drive plate, note position of spacers. On Corolla, Celica and Prizm, tighten bolts to 47 ft. lbs. (64 N.m). On Tercel, tighten bolts to 65 ft. lbs. (88 N.m). On all other models, tighten bolts to 61 ft. lbs. (83 N.m).
