Wheel Bearing Adjustment

NOTE: Ensure no brake drag exists when adjusting wheel bearings.
  1. With wheel removed, remove cap, cotter pin, and lock nut. Tighten hub nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). Rotate hub several times to seat bearing. Loosen hub nut until it can be turned by hand.
  2. Using a spring scale attached to wheel stud, rotate hub while measuring oil seal drag. Tighten axle shaft nut while rotating hub until rotating torque is equal to oil seal rotating torque plus 1.1-2.2 lbs. (0.5-1.0 kg). Install lock nut, cotter pin, cap, and wheel.
