Removal & Installation (Tercel)
- Disable air bag system. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & AIR BAG . Remove 2 screws retaining hood release lever. Remove 2 plastic screw covers, and all retaining screws and bolts from instrument panel lower finish panel. See Fig 1. Pull instrument panel lower finish panel away from left upper corner retaining clip and remove panel. Remove steering column covers.
- Unplug harness connectors and remove combination switch from steering column. Remove screws from instrument cluster finish panel. Pull cluster finish panel away from 3 retaining clips just enough to disconnect electrical connectors on rear of panel. Remove panel.
- Remove 3 instrument cluster retaining screws. Pull cluster outward enough to disconnect wiring harness connectors and speedometer connector. Remove cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure. Before installing steering wheel, center spiral cable.
