Control Valve Assembly: Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 1994 Toyota MR2, 1993 Toyota MR2, 1993 Toyota Celica, 1992 Toyota MR2, and 1992 Toyota Corolla. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install new 2nd brake apply gasket. While holding cam down, slip cable end into slot. DO NOT tangle solenoid wire. Install control valve assembly. Hand tighten control valve assembly bolts. See Fig 1. Tighten bolts to 97 INCH lbs. (11 N.m). Connect solenoid wiring connector(s).
- Align manual valve with pin on manual shaft lever. Lower manual valve body into position. Install 5 bolts finger tight. See Fig 3. Tighten bolts to 97 INCH lbs. (11 N.m).
- Install detent spring. Ensure manual valve lever is in contact with center of roller at tip of detent spring. Install 2 bolts finger tight. Tighten bolts to 97 INCH lbs. (11 N.m).
- Tap oil tubes into position. DO NOT bend or damage tubes during installation. Install oil tube bracket. Tighten bolts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
- Install oil strainer. Tighten bolts to 97 INCH lbs. (11 N.m). Install magnets in oil pan. Ensure magnets do not interfere with oil tubes. Install oil pan and new gasket. Tighten bolts to 43 INCH lbs. (4.9 N.m). Install drain plug with new washer gasket. Fill transmission with ATF.
