Front Planetary Gear: Inspection

  1. Measure inside diameter of sun gear. Maximum inside diameter for A-241H is .8699" (22.096 mm). If inside diameter exceeds specification, replace sun gear.
  2. Measure planetary pinion gear thrust clearance. Standard clearance is .0063-.0220" (.160-.560 mm). See Fig 3. Maximum clearance is .024" (.61 mm). If clearance exceeds specification, replace planetary gear assembly.
