Front Planetary Gear: Inspection

- Clean all parts with solvent. Dry parts using compressed air. Check thrust bearings, races and one-way clutch for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Measure inside diameter of sun gear flange bushing. Standard inside diameter should be .867-.868" (22.03-22.05 mm). Maximum inside diameter is .870" (22.10 mm). If inside diameter exceeds specification, replace flange.
- Measure planetary pinion gear thrust clearance. Standard clearance should be .008-.020" (.20-.50 mm). Maximum clearance is .020" (.50 mm). If clearance exceeds specification, replace planetary gear. See Figure.
- Measure inside diameter of ring gear flange bushing. Standard inside diameter should be .749-.750" (19.03-19.05 mm). If inside diameter exceeds specification, replace flange.
