Countershaft Assembly: Disassembly

  1. Remove planetary sun gear from countershaft. Remove snap ring from sun gear and countershaft assembly. Remove underdrive planetary gear, thrust bearing and race. See Figure.
  2. Using Adapter (09350-32014) and press, remove drive pinion with output flange, outer bearing, race and spacer. Note thickness and size of bearing race. Remove ring gear retaining snap ring. Remove ring gear from countershaft.
  3. Using Bearing Remover (09550-00020) and press, remove remaining bearing from countershaft. Remove outer bearing race from drive pinion using a brass punch and hammer. Note size of bearing and bearing race.
