Removal (Previa)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL .
- Remove 5 screws retaining steering column covers. Remove hood release lever. Remove 2 plastic screw covers and 5 retaining screws from instrument panel lower finish panel below steering column. See Figure. Remove 5 bolts retaining inner knee panel from below steering column.
- If equipped with tilt steering column, tilt column to lowest position. If not equipped with tilt column, disconnect combination switch and spiral cable harness connectors. Remove combination switch/spiral cable assembly and turn signal bracket from steering column.
- Remove instrument panel center cluster top cover (fuse/relay block cover). Remove 2 screws and 2 bolts retaining cluster finish center panel (heater control and radio panel). See Figure. Pull cluster finish center panel (with radio attached) outward enough to access and remove 2 screws retaining right side of instrument cluster finish panel.
- Using flat-blade screwdriver, pry instrument cluster finish panel loose from 3 retaining clips and left air duct. Remove 4 instrument cluster mounting screws. If equipped with automatic transmission(A/T), disconnect indicator cable from control lever.
- Ensure control lever is in "P" position. Remove cable from roller. Pull instrument cluster outward and disconnect harness connectors.
