Instrument Cluster: (MR2)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL . Remove steering column covers.
  2. Remove 4 screws and pry lower finish panel loose from below steering column. See Figure. Remove insert panel and heater duct from below steering column to access combination switch connector. Remove combination switch, and turn signal bracket from steering column.
  3. Remove rear console box. Using flat-blade screwdriver, pry up console shifter upper panel and pull panel slightly rearward to remove. See Figure. Remove 6 retaining screws and remove console box. Remove ashtray to remove 2 screws. Pry center cluster finish panel loose from its 6 retaining clips. Disconnect switch connectors from rear of panel.
  4. To remove instrument cluster finish panel, remove instrument panel lighting rheostat knob and nut. Remove screw near ignition switch lock cylinder. See Figure. Pry instrument cluster finish panel loose from 2 retaining clips.
  5. Remove retaining screws and pry instrument cluster loose from 2 clips. Pull cluster out enough to disconnect harness connectors and speedometer. To install, reverse removal procedure.
