Load-Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV): Camry
- Measure and record unladen rear axle load. Set total rear axle load to unladen load plus 68 lbs. (31 kg) for testing purposes. Attach Pressure Gauge Set (09709-29017) to front caliper and rear wheel cylinder or caliper.
- Bleed air from system. See BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING . Depress brake pedal until front pressure reading is 1565 psi (110 kg/cm2
). Wait 2 seconds and record rear pressure reading. Rear pressure reading should be 1013-1154 psi (71-81 kg/cm2
).NOTE: DO NOT depress brake pedal more than once or release pedal while setting pressure on front gauge.
- If rear pressure is not as specified, adjust LSPV spring length by turning adjusting nut. See Fig 1. To increase rear pressure, lengthen spring. To decrease rear pressure, shorten spring length. Tighten lock nut.NOTE: Each turn of adjusting nut changes fluid pressure by 45.5 psi (3.2 kg/cm2 ).
- If rear pressure cannot be adjusted to specification, replace valve assembly. If valve assembly is replaced, set shaft length (dimension "A") to initial set length of 1.08" (27.5 mm). See Fig 1. Check and adjust pressures (if necessary).
