Wheel Bearing & Axle Carrier: Removal

  1. Remove upper suspension arm and axle carrier. See UPPER SUSPENSION ARM & AXLE CARRIER. Remove retaining nut from ball joint and separate upper suspension arm from axle carrier.
  2. Using screwdriver, pry dust deflector from axle carrier. Remove inner oil seal from axle carrier. See Figure.
  3. Using Puller (SST 09950-20017), press axle hub from axle carrier. Remove backing plate from axle carrier. Using puller, remove outer race from axle hub.
  4. Using Oil Seal Puller (SST 09308-00010), remove outer oil seal. Remove snap ring. Using press and Driver (SST 09608-35014), remove wheel bearing from axle carrier.
