Reassembly & Installation
- Install bumper and coil spring. Ensure coil spring fully seats on shock absorber. Align and install suspension support with shock absorber piston rod. See Fig 1. Install NEW nut on piston rod but DO NOT tighten at this time.
- Install shock absorber on the body. Loosely install shock absorber-to-body nuts. Install shock absorber on axle carrier. Install and tighten shock absorber-to-axle carrier bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article.
- Tighten shock absorber-to-body nuts, shock absorber piston rod nut and shock absorber cap nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Loosely install strut rod-to-body bolt.
- Install wheel. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Lower vehicle. Bounce vehicle up and down to stabilize suspension.
- Tighten strut rod-to-body bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Check rear wheel alignment. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in the WHEEL ALIGNMENT Section.
