Removal & Installation: Inspection

  1. Inspect timing belt for damaged teeth, cracking or oil contamination. Replace timing belt if damaged or contaminated. Inspect idler pulleys and fan for smooth rotation. Replace component if defective.
  2. Inspect tension spring for damage, and measure spring free length. Replace tension spring if damaged or free length is not 2.216" (56.274 mm).
