Timing Belt: Inspection

  1. Inspect timing belt for damaged teeth, cracking or oil contamination. Replace timing belt if damaged or contaminated.
  2. Check idler pulley for smooth rotation. Replace idler pulley if defective. Inspect tension spring for damage. Measure tension spring free length. Replace tension spring if free length is not 2.72" (69.1 mm).
