Timing Belt Case: Removal
- Disconnect necessary coolant hoses from water pump, as water pump is removed with timing belt case. Remove retaining bolts/nuts, and disconnect coolant by-pass pipe from rear of timing belt case and cylinder block. Remove power steering pump bracket.
- Remove oil pan (if necessary). See OIL PAN under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove timing belt, crankshaft timing pulley and oil pump drive pulley. See TIMING BELT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Note location of timing belt case bolts and nuts for reassembly reference, as different length bolts are used must be installed in proper location. See Figure. Remove bolts, nuts, timing belt case and gasket.
