Wiring Harness Operational Test

  1. Unplug connector at coolant temperature sender. Turn ignition on. Temperature gauge should read COOL. Turn ignition off. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light between harness connector wire and ground.
  2. Turn ignition on. Test light should come on and temperature gauge should move to the hot side. If gauge function is as indicated, replace sending unit. If gauge function is not as indicated, perform TEMPERATURE GAUGE RESISTANCE TEST.
