Wiring Harness Operational Test (Corolla, Land Cruiser, Pickup, Supra & 4Runner)

  1. Unplug connector at oil sending unit. Turn ignition on. Oil gauge should read LOW. Turn ignition off. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light between harness connector wire and ground.
  2. Turn ignition on. Test light should come on, and oil pressure gauge should move to the high side. If gauge function is as indicated, perform SENDING UNIT OPERATIONAL TEST. If gauge function is not as indicated, perform OIL PRESSURE GAUGE RESISTANCE TEST.
