Wheel Bearing Adjustment

NOTE: Ensure no brake drag exists when adjusting wheel bearings.
  1. With wheel removed, remove cap, cotter pin and lock nut. Tighten hub nut to 22 ft. lbs. (30 N.m). Rotate hub several times. Loosen hub nut until it can be turned by hand without using a socket.
  2. Using a spring scale attached to wheel stud, rotate hub and note rotating torque of the oil seal. Tighten axle shaft nut while rotating hub until rotating torque of oil seal and bearing is equal to oil seal rotating torque plus .9-2.2 lbs. (3.9-9.8 N). Install lock nut, cotter pin, cap and wheel.
