Removal (Tercel)
- Raise and support body of vehicle. Remove tires and wheels. Disconnect and remove brake lines at wheel cylinders and flexible hose junction.
- Remove clip and separate flexible hose from bracket on axle beam. Remove cap, cotter pin, lock nut, wheel bearing adjusting nut and drum/hub assembly. See Figure. Remove brake shoes.
- Press down lock tabs and remove parking brake cables from backing plate. Disconnect lateral control rod from axle beam. Remove strut assembly-to-axle beam bolts. Support axle beam. Remove axle beam-to-body bolts. Remove axle beam.
