Temperature Gauge Test

  1. Turn ignition on. Coolant temperature sending unit should be plugged in.
  2. Connect sending unit connector to ground. Uppermost segment of temperature gauge should illuminate.
  3. Remove ground connection. With harness connector unplugged, lowest segment should illuminate. If gauge does not respond as described, replace wire harness or computer.
  4. If gauge responds as described, check sending unit resistance. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCES  table. If resistances are not as specified, replace sending unit.
