Fuel Tank Sending Unit Test

Connect a series of three 1.5-volt dry cell batteries. Connect positive lead of batteries to terminal No. 4 and negative lead to terminal No. 1. See Fig 1. Connect positive lead from voltmeter to terminal No. 2 and negative lead to terminal No. 1.

Check that voltage changes between terminals No. 1 and 2 as sending unit float is moved from full to empty position. See FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT OUTPUT VOLTAGES table for correct readings. If readings are not as specified, replace sending unit.
