Upper & Lower Control Arms: Installation

  1. Install the upper control arm on the frame with the nut and bolt. Insert the bolt from the outside of the vehicle. Do NOT tighten the bolt.
  2. NOTE: Insert the bolt from the outside of the vehicle. Do NOT tighten the nut.
  3. Install the upper control arm on the rear axle housing with the bolt, plate washer and nut.
  4. Install the lower control arm on the frame with the nut and bolt. Insert the bolt from the outside of the vehicle. Do NOT tighten the nut.
  5. Install the lower control arm on the rear axle housing with the bolt, plate washer and nut. Insert the bolt from the outside of the vehicle. Do NOT tighten the nut.
  6. Install the protector with the 2 bolts
  7. Connect the parking cable to the lower control arm.
  8. Lower the vehicle and bounce it up and down to stabilize the suspension.
  9. Raise up the rear axle housing and support it with stands.
  10. Tighten the bolt holding the upper control arm to the frame. Tighten the bolt holding the upper control arm to the rear axle housing. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Tighten the nut and bolt holding the lower control arm to the frame. Tighten the nut and bolt holding the lower control arm to the rear axle housing. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
