Lateral Control Rod: Installation

  1. Raise the axle housing until the frame is free from the stands.
  2. In this order, install the bushing, lateral control rod, bushing, plate washer and nut on the rear axle housing. Do NOT tighten the nut.
  3. NOTE: Insert the bolt from the front of the vehicle (shock absorber side). Do NOT tighten the nut.
  4. Install the lateral control rod to the frame with the bolt, plate washer and nut.
  5. Connect the shackle bracket to the lateral control rod with the 2 bolts.
  6. Connect the shock absorber to the rear axle housing with the bolt, and torque the nut. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Bounce the vehicle up and down to stabilize the suspension.
  8. Raise up the axle housing and support it with stands.
  9. Tighten the nut holding the lateral control rod to the rear axle housing. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Tighten the nut holding the lateral control rod to the frame. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
