Overdrive (OD) Solenoid
- Disconnect OD solenoid 3-pin harness connector. See Fig 1. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between OD solenoid terminals No. 1 and 2. Resistance reading should be 11-15 ohms. If resistance reading is as specified, go to step 3. If resistance reading is not as specified, go to next step.

- Apply about 12 volts between OD solenoid terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 2. Verify solenoid operation is heard. If solenoid operation is not heard, replace OD solenoid. If OD solenoid operation is heard, check for burned GAUGE fuse (7.5 amp) or open in power circuit.

- Reconnect OD solenoid 3-pin harness connector. Turn ignition on and disconnect water thermo switch single pin harness connector. Verify operation of OD solenoid can be heard while OD main switch is turned on and off repeatedly. See Fig 3. If OD solenoid operation can be heard, check for short circuit in OD solenoid ground circuit. If OD solenoid operation can be heard, turn ignition off and reconnect thermo switch. Check operation of OD MAIN SWITCH .
