Wheel Bearing

  1. Remove bolts attaching disc brake caliper and torque plate to spindle. Do not disconnect brake line. Remove and secure caliper out of way. Tighten outer bearing nut to 21 ft. lbs. (28 N.m). Turn hub right and left 2 or 3 times to seat bearing.
  2. Loosen hub nut until it can be turned by hand. Using a spring tension gauge, check frictional force of oil seal. Tighten hub nut until bearing preload, including oil seal frictional force, is within specification. See BEARING PRELOAD SPECIFICATIONS  table.

  3. Using a dial gauge, check hub axial play. Maximum hub axial play is .002" (.05 mm). Install nut lock, new cotter pin and dust cap. Install disc brake caliper.
