Rocker Arm Assembly

  1. Remove air intake chamber and valve cover. Remove rocker arm assembly retaining bolts in 3 or 4 steps. Loosen in sequence of front, rear, front center, and rear center bolts. Remove rocker arm assembly.
  2. Remove retaining clips from both ends of rocker arm shaft. Remove conical spring, rocker arms, springs, and support stands. Keep parts in order for reassembly reference.
  3. Thoroughly clean and inspect all components. Check rocker arm-to-shaft clearance. If clearance exceeds .003" (.08 mm), replace rocker arms or shafts as necessary. Reface valve end of rocker arm if worn. Lubricate all components before assembly.
