Removal & Installation - On Vehicle

  1. Remove transfer case protector. Drain gear oil from transfer case. Remove rear propeller shaft. Remove companion flange. Using a hammer and chisel, loosen the staked part of the nut. Using SST (09330-00021) to hold the companion flange, remove the companion flange lock nut. Using SST (09950-20017), remove the companion flange.
  2. Remove oil seal. Using SST (09308-10010), remove the rear output shaft oil seal.
  3. Install oil seal. Using SST (09316-60010 (09316-00010, 09316-00020)), drive in a new oil seal. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.
  4. Install companion flange. Install the companion flange. Using SST (09330-00021) to hold the companion flange, install the companion flange lock nut. Stake the lock nut. Install rear propeller shaft.
  5. Fill transfer with oil. Install transfer case protector.
