Master Cylinder: Installation
- ALWAYS check and adjust clearance between power assist servo push rod and master cylinder piston if either unit is replaced or overhauled. See Fig 1. Place Depth Gauge (09737-00010) on master cylinder with sealing gasket installed. Loosen lock knob and lower pin of gauge until it lightly touches piston of master cylinder. Lock gauge pin in place.
- Turn depth gauge over and set on power assist servo. Adjustment is correct if push rod just barely touches pin head of depth gauge.NOTE: Clearance between push rod of power assist servo and pin head of depth gauge must be zero.
- If not, adjust male portion of push rod with open end wrench while holding female portion of rod with pliers.
- This adjustment will give standard operating clearance of .004-.020" (.1-.5 mm) with idle vacuum applied to servo. To install, reverse removal procedures and bleed brake system.
