Load Sensing Proportioning & By-Pass Valve Adjustments: CAMRY
- Load sensing proportioning and by-pass valve (LSP & BV or LSPV) is designed to control fluid pressures at rear brakes depending upon rear axle load. Specified weight, which includes vehicle weight, is placed on the rear axle for testing and adjusting pressures.
- Test weight for rear axle load, including vehicle weight, is set at 1543 lbs. (700 kg) for Van and 1-ton 2WD Pickup models. On 1/2-ton 2WD Pickup test weight is 1764 lbs. (800 kg). Test weight for 4WD Pickup models is 1984 lbs. (900 kg). Test weight for Land Cruiser models is 2646 lbs. (1200 kg). On Camry, test weight is 200 lbs. (100 kg) above rear axle unladen weight.
- Install Pressure Gauge Set (09709-29017) on vehicle. Connect one gauge to front caliper and one gauge to rear wheel cylinder. Bleed system. Depress brake pedal until pressure reading at front wheel is 1138 psi, (80 kg/cm2
) on Camry, or 711 psi (50 kg/cm2
) on all other models. DO NOT depress brake pedal more than once or release pedal when setting test pressure on front gauge.
- Wait 2 seconds from setting of test pressure before recording pressure reading from rear gauge. Raise pressure on front gauge to 1422 psi (100 kg/cm2
) and record pressure reading from rear gauge after 2 seconds. Compare recorded pressures with specified rear brake pressures. See BRAKE PRESSURES table for correct pressure ranges.

- Adjust fluid pressure if rear pressure readings do not meet specification.
- On Camry, to adjust pressure, shorten spring length to increase spring length. Standard spring length is 6.57" (166.9 mm). If pressure cannot be adjusted, raise valve body to decrease pressure.
