Valve Clearance Adjustment
NOTE:
Valves should be adjusted with engine at normal operating temperature but not running. Cold specification is provided for initial settings after assembly.
- With engine at normal operating temperature, stop engine and remove valve cover. Bring No. 1 piston to TDC of compression stroke. Ensure rockers on No. 1 are loose and No. 4 are tight.
- Realign cut-out on damper pulley with zero degree timing mark on timing belt cover. Adjust Nos. 1 and 2 intake valves and Nos. 1 and 3 exhaust valves.
- Rotate crankshaft one full turn (360 degrees) clockwise to realign timing mark on damper pulley with zero ("0") mark on timing cover. Adjust Nos. 3 and 4 intake valves and Nos. 2 and 4 exhaust valves. See VALVE CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS table.
