Piston Pins

NOTE: Piston and pin are a matched set. Keep piston, pin, rings and rod together for each cylinder.
  1. Check fit between piston and pin by moving piston back and forth on piston pin. If any movement is felt, replace piston and pin.
  2. To remove piston pin, warm piston and rod assembly to about 70°F (20°C). Press out pin using Pin Remover/Installer (09221-25018) for 3A-C and (09221-25022) for 4A-C. DO NOT  damage piston during removal.
  3. Check pin and piston pin hole for signs of galling or excessive wear. Replace as necessary. To assemble, reheat piston to 70°F (20°C). Align cavity on piston top with protrusion on rod.
  4. Coat pin with oil. Insert pin into piston using pin installer while holding parts in proper alignment. Check for no movement of piston on pin. See Fig 1. Press pin until centered in rod.
