Water Pump: Removal

  1. Drain cooling system. Loosen alternator pivot bolt, swing unit toward engine and remove drive belt. On A/C equipped models, remove fan shroud. Remove fluid coupling with fan, water pump pulley and drive belt.
  2. Remove water outlet housing, by-pass pipe, water inlet housing, thermostat, timing belt upper cover and oil dipstick tube. Disconnect heater outlet hose from pipe and remove heater outlet pipe mounting bolt. Remove water pump.
