Water Pump: Reassembly

  1. Heat pump body to 185°F (85°C). Press bearing/shaft assembly into body until bearing race is flush with body top surface. Apply sealant to new seal set and press onto bearing assembly.
  2. Press pulley seat onto pump bearing shaft. Distance between face of pulley seat and rear of pump body should be 3.0" (76 mm) for 3A-C and 3.34-3.40" (84.8-86.2 mm) for 4A-C.
  3. Install new packing and seat into impeller. Apply oil to seal lip and rotor contact surfaces. Press impeller onto shaft to depth of .236" (6.0 mm). Install 4 stud bolts to pulley seat. After assembly, ensure impeller turns smoothly. See Fig 1.
