Rear Calipers

Two versions of sliding calipers are used for rear disc brakes. The fixed main pin type is found on Celica, Corolla RWD, MR2 and Supra models. Type with 2 mounting bolts and 2 sliding bushings is used on Cressida models.

Another difference in calipers is parking brake application. On Corolla RWD and MR2 models, parking brake is integral to rear caliper. Brake pads are pressed against rotors through cable-operated bellcrank on caliper. Parking brake on Celica, Cressida and Supra models consists of internal brake shoes that press against machine surface on inside of rear rotor.
