Valve Guide Servicing: Replacement

  1. Insert an old valve wrapped with tape into valve guide, tap valve with hammer firmly enough to break guide off flush with cylinder head surface. Remove snap ring. Gradually heat head to 176-212°F (80-100°C). Using Valve Guide Remover (09201-70010), drive guide out from camshaft side.
  2. To install valve guide, reheat cylinder head. Using Valve Guide Installer (09201-70010), drive in new guide until snap ring contacts head. Using 6 mm reamer, finish guide bore to specified clearance. Reface valve seat surface, as needed, after valve or guide repair or replacement.
